Guest Readers (Grade 3)

On Tuesday, November 24th, retired teachers from the Franklin Square School District and the Sewanhaka Central High School District visited our 3rd grade classes to read Thanksgiving related stories. A wonderful morning was enjoyed by all!

Stand Tall and Rake for Fall

On Saturday, November 7th, over 50 students, parents, and staff members from Polk Street School volunteered to rake the lawns of our community members. It was a beautiful, crisp day. Our neighbors expressed their appreciation for our efforts. Everyone walked away feeling invigorated with a sense of satisfaction from helping others.

Veterans' Day Assembly

On Friday, November 6th, Polk Street welcomed over 40 local veterans to a special assembly entitled, "A Morning of Honor, A Lifetime of Gratitude". The students in Grades K-2 created beautiful mini-murals which adorned the walls of the auditorium. Students in Grades 3-6 read poems and letters of appreciation about the veterans. The boys and girls also sang special patriotic songs to honor our brave men and women.
